SELF CARE TIPS DURING SHORTER DAYS

Updated: Nov 11

It’s a fact. The days are getting colder, darker, gloomier, and shorter. Winter is coming and for some that’s absolutely magical, but for others it’s an absolute nightmare. Some desperately need warm weather and sunny days. Seasonal depression is a very real, and very valid ailment, and during these harder times we’re living in, it can be all the much worse for them.

"You’re important and your well-being is important. Take care of yourself and please reach out when it’s needed. You matter."

Self care is something we hear a lot, but the importance of it means we can not just stop talking about it.

Here are a few ideas to make sure you get in your self care during these shorter, and colder days.

  • Drink water. While everything might be hard to achieve, at the very least drinking water will help.

  • Take a hot bath. The hot water helps the chills and it’s extremely soothing on sore and tired muscles.

  • Drink hot beverages. Hot chocolate, coffee, tea, hot water & lemon, hot water & honey, anything. It really is soothing.

  • Eat. Even if it’s just a little bit. It still helps.

  • Cozy up with thick socks. Rub some lotion on your feet and put on a pair of cozy socks.

  • Watch the holiday movies. They’re cheesy as heck yet completely perfect. Watch them all.

  • Take a walk during a snowfall. Or even just go outside and catch some thick snowflakes on your tongue.

This isn't an extensive list, and self care looks different for everyone. Don't forget, you’re important and your well-being is important. Take care of yourself and please reach out when it’s needed. You matter.
